Urban Gardening- The Redeemer Community Garden starts in the early spring to design the beds and choose the produce. It is used strictly for feeding the community at large and uses community volunteers for labor.
Summer Cookouts- Garden produce is cooked by volunteer youth and adults for 8 weeks in the summer on Wednesday evenings. Come enjoy music, youth art projects, and re-connecting with neighbors.
Block Party- Every year, on the 3rd Wednesday in August, more than 10% of the neighborhood turns out for a fun-filled evening of performances, food, and games. We’re also proud to help out our school-age children and youth by giving away backpacks full of school supplies for the upcoming year.
Breakfast Club- A discussion group facilitated by Aster that meets every Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Living Room. Come and talk about a variety of topics: from racism and activism to relationships and arts. All are welcome. Check it out in the Living Room.
African American Think Tank- We’re honored to provide space for the African American Think Tank, a Harrison Neighborhood Association-based organization focused on personal and economic empowerment for African Americans. Members meet every fourth Thursday of the month in the Living Room. Contact Malik Holt for more information: malik@hnampls.org. Check it out in the Living Room
Chess Club- Youth and adults gather to strengthen their strategic thinking skills in a game of chess. Facilitated by Jack Mangan, an experienced chess coach, every Monday evening at 6 p.m. in the Living Room. Check it out in the Living Room
Christmas Store- Where else but Redeemer can children and youth buy Christmas presents for their family members for only $1? On the 2nd Saturday of December, Redeemer Lutheran, RCFL, and our church partners produce an afternoon full of gifts, food, carols and crafts.
